About Us
Halley House School is wedged between Dalston and Stoke Newington, in London.
We are named after Edmond Halley, who was born in 1656 in Shoreditch, a stone's throw away from our site. Edmond Halley was Britain's second Astronomer Royal, a renowned mathematician and physicist, best known for discovering the comet that now bears his name - Halley's Comet - which you can see in our logo.
We opened our doors in September 2015 when there was a shortage of school places in the area. We are a non-selective, non-denominational, co-educational primary free school and welcome children from all backgrounds.
Our nursery welcomes 3-4 year olds, whilst our primary school welcomes children 4-11 year olds.
Supported by the Bellevue Place Education Trust, our school offers a broad and balanced curriculum with specific focus on literacy, numeracy and IT. We focus on high academic attainment and rigour, and employ innovative pedagogical approaches delivered by the finest teaching staff.
Our belief is that children learn best when they are happy and excited by what’s happening in the classroom; excellent achievements will be a by-product of the education on offer and not the only goal.
Our aim is to instil a love of learning in our pupils and provide a solid foundation to build on, in the transition to secondary education and beyond. Every pupil at our school is encouraged to achieve their maximum potential within this happy, nurturing environment.
