Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Our Commitment
We are a fully inclusive school where the learning and development needs of each and every child matter. We promote an inclusive ethos across the school community and are dedicated to ensuring all pupils achieve their potential: personally, socially, emotionally and academically.
We believe that all children, including those with identified special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum that is accessible to them. We adopt a guaranteed response to meeting the needs of pupils with SEND in line with the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
Inclusion
We are committed to early identification of children with SEND. Our dedicated school Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and class teachers work closely with families and other professionals to ensure that children’s individual learning needs are identified and closely monitored to ensure that children continues to successfully access the curriculum and fulfil their learning potential.
Our inclusion leader is Ms Soozii Lim. She is responsible for overseeing the SEND policy and coordinating specific provision to support children with SEND. She also coordinates with external agencies and specialists to incorporate their advice, if and when needed. Ms Lim can be contacted via the school office.
Identifying SEND
When identifying additional SEND needs, families will have a formal discussion with the school SENCo and class teacher. Then, a range of evidence, assessments and observations are collected to help identify these needs and how parents and carers can work together with the school to determine if or how additional provision is implemented.
The outcomes and impact of any additional provision are also closely monitored to ensure that all children continue to make progress in their learning.
